Hi Jens,

So I recently sent my first backflip on skis and haven't done another one, I need some advice and some tips on what went wrong and what I need to fix on my next. What did you notice yourself? I committed to the flip but then when I was half way in the air i just stopped.

I’m not really sure where you’re supposed to post things here or how this community works, but I just added a screenshot with my videos and their names. I was asked to describe my trick progress, so that’s what I’m doing now.

So, I’ve been struggling with my 360 for a while. It’s not that I can’t land it, but it’s really hard to make it look good. At the beginning it was fine, then I messed everything up, and my biggest issue was landing on my left side-left butt cheek, hip, basically the whole left side.

Later I somehow fixed it-I had like two decent tries. I realized I needed to start the rotation later, first the pop and then the spin. But as you can see, it’s still not the nicest 360 ever.

Then I tried it in Sölden on the small S jumps. At first I kept falling backwards, but then I figured out I need to push the rotation more forward. After that I could land it, but it still looked pretty bad. The biggest problem I’ve noticed are my arms. No matter how hard I try to keep them tight and controlled, they just don’t go the right way with the rotation. They kind of stop, they don’t follow through, and like you can see in the video-they don’t spin at all.

Even on rails, when I tried 270 out, it’s the same issue, but even worse. My arms go, like, anti-rotation, almost like they’re just hanging there and doing nothing.

That’s my biggest problem right now, and I’d really, really appreciate some help, because I have a competition soon! And of course, if you have any other useful advice, I’ll take everything that can help me finally get this trick right. It means a lot to me!🙏🫶

What were you trying to do?
Begin learning a switch cork 5 on the tramp

What did you notice yourself?

I watched a tutorial that said to begin by breaking it up into a switch 270 to seat drop + seated to 270 to feet. The first part I feel really comfortable with, but the second half- getting from seated to 270 to feet- I struggled a lot with, specifically getting it around to 270. I noticed I tend to end up with my leading arm (left) behind my back, which I’m sure is stalling my rotation.

What would you like feedback on?
Would be happy to have any tips on improving this, or if you have another suggestion on how to begin learning this trick. Thanks!

What were you trying to do? A 270 on

What did you notice yourself? That I’m quite “blind” as I get onto the feature, like my feet get there first and then my upper body and eyes catch up and see where I’m going. I feel like it makes it impossible to do any adjustment to my spin, since I don’t see the feature early enough.

What would you like feedback on? First of all, is the way I chose to spin the easiest way to learn this skill, or would you recommend something else to start? And second, how can I (or is there a way to) reduce the blindness as I get on?
